The price indices on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) posted gainsThursday, as the gaining issues outplayed the losing ones. The trade turnover, in terms of both volume and value, however, fell on the day. The DSE General Index gained by 34.35 points or 1.98 per cent to close at 1767.08 points from 1736.30 points of Wednesday, the previous trading day. The DSE-20 Index rose by 40.36 points or 2.10 per cent to end at 1962.79 points from 1931.31 points of previous day. About 1.88 million shares and debentures worth Tk 165.73 mil-lion changed hands on the day against 2.85 million shares and deben-tures valued Tk 256.31 million of the previous trading day. A number of 163 issues were traded on the day including 122 gainers, 17 losers and 24 remain-ing un-changed on the day, as estimated on the basis of closing prices. The total market capitalisation stood at Tk 210.17 billion from Tk 206.12 billion. Exim Bank was the top trade turn-over leader, in terms of value, on the day. Its 24,800 shares valued at Tk 15.52 million changed hands. The price of the issue increased by 2.48 per cent to end at Tk 629.50. Keya Cosmetics was the top trade turnover leader, in terms of volume, on the day. Its 250,500 shares worth Tk 6.17 million were traded. The price of the issue gained by 10.17 per cent to close at 24.90 on the day. Saleh Carpet was the top gainer on the day as its price moved up by 11.11 per cent to end at Tk 1.00. Its 3,200 shares valued at Tk 3,200.00 changed hands. Standard Ceramic was the top losing issue on the day. Its price decreased by 7.40 per cent to close at Tk 125.00. Its 100 shares worth Tk 12,500.00 changed hands. Safko Spinning was a major gaining issue on the day with its 50 shares valued at Tk 3,500.00 being transacted. The price of the issue rose by 7.39 per cent to close at Tk 69.00 on the day. Southeast Bank was a major performer on the day with its 12,150 shares valued at Tk 12.96 million being traded. The price of the issue increased by 3.01 per cent to close at Tk 589.25.
