Media urged to bestow women with editorial duty
FE report
2/12/2006

As three consecutive global report conducted in the last 10 years found women's views and voices marginalised in the news media, UNESCO has welcomed media to accept the challenge to bestow editorial responsibilities on women throughout the world on the historical International Women's Day.
The call was made on the occasion of releasing the 3rd report of Global Media Monitoring Project (GMMP), a global research into gender in news media conducted since 1995.
This was disclosed at an information dissemination session held at the Gender In Media Forum (GIMF) office here recently. Chaired by writer Selina Hossain, the session was addressed, among others, by Dr Gitiara Nasreen and Ranjan Karmaker, founder members of GIMF. Fouzia Khandker Iva, Gender Consultant, also spoke on the occasion.
