Khaleda accomplishing Yahia's incomplete job with brutality, says Hasina
2/13/2006

Leader of the Opposition in parliament and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina said Sunday Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is ruling the country with brutality to 'accomplish her old master Yahia's incomplete job', report agencies.
Renewing her accusation that the alliance government has been distorting the country's glorious history of victory in the liberation war, Hasina said in these days of free flow of information people will not be misled.
"The BNP-Jamaat alliance government are the agents of Pakistan and want to take revenge of their defeat in 1971… their grudge is against Awami League (AL), which snatched freedom from them, and that's why they want to destroy the Awami League," she said.
The AL president was addressing the representative conference-'06 of Bangabandhu Shishu Kishore Mela at the Engineers Institute in the city Sunday noon.
AL presidium member Zillur Rahman MP presided over the programme. Durgadas Bhattacharya of Dhaka University (DU), former DU vice chancellor AK Azad Chowdhury, Bangladesh Observer editor Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, poet Rafiq Azad, Zillul Huq, Zahir Kazi and Shirin Akter also addressed the gathering.
Hasina alleged that the government was forcing the children to learn false history of the liberation war, as they want to destroy the achievement of the glorious event. "We've to protect the nation from such false history of the coalition regime," she added.
She said, "BNP claims `Major Zia' proclaimed our liberation war… if an army officer proclaimed the liberation war then it was mutiny, not the liberation war."
The AL chief strongly criticised the Prime Minister for "extra-judicial killings, price-hike of essentials, smuggling out money and politicisation of the administration."
