The government has decided to take extraordinary security measures with adequate forces and CCTV camera at the Central Shaheed Minar and its adjoining areas to ensure peaceful observance of the 21st February Shaheed Day and International Mother Language Day, reports UNB. The foolproof security will be in force from the evening of February 20 to the evening of February 21. Special security will be arranged for the VVIPs -- the President, the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament. As many as 16 CCTV cameras of police, and 12 CCTV cameras and four night vision cameras of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) will be installed for the first time at the Central Shaheed Minar and its adjacent areas. Besides, video cameras of the police and the RAB will be kept at places where CCTV cameras will not be installed. The decisions were taken Sunday at a meeting chaired by State Minister for Home Affairs Lutfozzaman Babar, who asked the law enforcers, including the police, the BDR, the Ansar and the RAB, to maintain strong vigil for ensuring smooth observance of the Language Day. "We don't apprehend any subversive act, but we'll ensure all out measures for observance of 21st February with due honour, discipline and peace," Babar told reporters after the meeting. The Vice-chancellor and the Proctor of Dhaka University, Inspector General of the Police, Directors General of the BDR and the RAB, and other senior officials were present in the meeting held at the Home Ministry.
