THE article published in the Financial Express on 5th January authored by AFP on Hajj arrangements surprised me. How news agency of repute can provide such poor information is difficult to understand. It appeared that they are yet to update their records on world cities. Spelling of 'Mecca' was changed in late eighties to 'Makkah'. Yet the news agency did the mistake in its spelling. After long 20 years if it is unknown to them than one has reason to be skeptic about what they are saying on the city. We always tend to rely on their news and other forms of dissemination of information. But we need to be careful. US and British media supported Bush's war on terrorism and for cleaning WMD. One should not overlook occasional purposeful twisting of news by the western media that work for and are dominated by the big corporations that dominate the world economy and politics. A few local small brat become loud and fussy, while they fail to understand the trouble of earning a living by their compatriots in this part of the world. They create untenable matrix to join the chorus, to earn fame. Life is always at risk here because the rule of law is overlooked. At this time we need to stand up against the wind for survival and should not indulge in the luxury of theories and fine tuned ethics. Big and Bold may look tall but our size should be befitting to our requirements. M M Haque Jeddah, K.S.A haquetm83@yahoo.com
