ACME Laboratories Ltd obtains sub-licence for manufacturing zinc tablets
FE Report
2/13/2006

The ACME Laboratories Ltd has obtained a sub-licence for manufacturing zinc tablets. ICDDR'B singed a contract last year with Nutriset, a French pharmaceutical company that owns the patent of dispersible zinc tablets, to produce zinc tables in Bangladesh, said a press release.
ICDDR'B has chosen ACME as it is committed to the SUZY Project and capable of supporting the marketing campaign on a large scale through its own network. Importantly, the company also meets the required quality standards.
A Memorandum of Understanding between ACME Laboratories Ltd. and ICDDR'B was signed late last year. Subsequently, a patent sublicensing agreement between the two organisations for the production of dispersible tables was signed in the city recently.
Experts from Nutriest visited the plant of the ACME Laboratories Ltd. last week and subsequently an agreement was signed between ACME and Nutriset for the successful transfer of technolo1gy to ACME to launch production of baby zinc dispersible tables.
The signing ceremony was attended by ACME's DMDs Jabil Rahaman Sinha, Afzalur Rahaman Sinha, ED Hasibur Raharnan Sinha, Director Marketing and Sales Rafiqul Islam. Alejandro Craviote, Charles P Lalson and Azharul Islam Khan of ICDDR'B and Beatrice Simkins and Julie Asselin of Nutriset were also present.
Once the technology transfer is completed, ACME would produce zinc dispersible tablets for ICDDR'B to treat diarrhoea patients aged below five years.
