World economists denounce US embargo against Cuba
2/13/2006

HAVANA, Feb. 12 (VNA): The 8th International Economists' Congress on Globalisation and Development Problems concluded in Havana, Cuba, yesterday, with the adoption of a declaration condemning the United States' embargo against Cuba.
The declaration noted that although many countries voted for a United Nations (UN) resolution condemning the US's embargo against Cuba, Washington has still not let up its hostile policy against the island country, causing losses and difficulties to Cubans.
More than 1,500 participating economists from 43 countries endorsed another resolution denouncing the US-led war on Iraq. They criticised the US authorities for increasing military spending and causing instability in the world.
During the five-day meeting, participants exchanged views on globalisation and neo-liberalism and their effects on the world economy, monetary, financial, auditing, trade, technological and environmental issues, improvement in techniques, and measures to cope with globalisation-caused threats.
