Body of maid recovered from RAB officer's house
2/16/2006

The body of a teenage domestic help was recovered from the house of Captain Zainul Abedin of RAB-3 in the city's Cantonment area Tuesday night, reports BDNEWS.
The deceased was identified as Rehana Begum (15) daughter of Hossain Miah of Banchharampur Upazila in Brahmanbaria district.
The family members, locals and some human right activists claimed that any of the family members of Captain Zainul might have killed the girl after violating her and later hanged the body from a pipe in the bathroom to pass it off as 'suicide.'
Captain Zainul, however, denied the allegation saying that the girl had committed suicide some time on Tuesday in the bathroom of his house.
Nurjahan Begum, a human rights activist and also a member of Ansar-VDP, told the news agency that she thoroughly examined the body of the girl and found several marks of injury, including swelling of her genital organ.
"The captain and his family members were trying to cover up the brutal murder claiming it was suicide," Nurjahan alleged.
She also said the army officer along with his mother-in-law and two young brothers-in-law reside at 94/10/GGSN in the cantonment area where the domestic help Rehana Begum had been working for last eight years.
Jahanara Begum, a sister of the deceased, told the journalists that Tuesday night a group of RAB members went to their slum at Bhasantek and took their cousin Mamun (18) to the house of Captain Zainal.
"The RAB men told my cousin that Rehana committed suicide," Jahanara said.
She also said that Captain Zainul's wife Jannat Ara used to torture Rehana even over trifling matters.
The body was sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy.
