Project to improve storm water drainage system in city underway

          A project to improve the storm water drainage system in Dhaka city including expansion of Kalyanpur pumping station cum sluice gate and maintenance of canal and operation equipment will be taken up, reports BSS.
The main objective of the project is to mitigate the adverse effects of water logging due to heavy rains and blocked drainage system in the city
A seven-member basic design and study team from Japan came to Bangladesh on February 13. The mission is comprised of officials from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) headquarters, Tokyo and consultant members belonging to CTI Engineering International Co. Ltd, Japan.
It is expected that the project, if implemented, will improve the drainage system of the capital city.
The mission visited the project sites of Kalyanpur Pumping Station and its areas and canals of Segunbagicha in the city. Mission members also had extensive meetings with the ministry concerned and Dhaka WASA officials.
