Rajshahi maintain winning run, Sylhet secure second success

          Holders Rajshahi Division registered a 19-run win over Barisal Division in a one-day match of the 6th round Ispahani Mirzapore Tea 7th National Cricket League at Barisal Divisional Stadium Thursday, reports UNB.
With the day's win, Rajshahi Division not only maintained their unbeaten record in the ongoing league but also dominated the slot with 12 points while Barisal Division remained at two points, both playing six matches.
Forced to bat first, Rajshahi Division were all out for 1/77 runs in stipulated 50 overs in the face of tight bowling assault by Arafat Salauddin and Monir Hossain who claimed three wickets each for 11 and 45 runs respectively.
Two down batsman Nayeem Islam scored 65 runs off 131 balls with four fours, Masanuzzaman contributed 47 runs off 99 balls, featuring four fours, while Mohammad Shahajada (18), and Mushfiqur Rahman (7) were the other notable contributors for Rajshahi Division.
Chasing the modest target of 177 runs, Barisal Division were bundled out for 158 runs in 47.3 overs with Mohammad Shaheen contributing 39 runs off 83 balls with four fours, Nadif Choudhury making 24 runs off 34 balls that included one four and a six.
Towhid Hossain contributed 22 runs facing 54 balls and hit two boundaries and an over boundary. Arafat Salauddin (17) and Prosenjit Bose (15) were the other notable scorers for Barisal Division.
Mushfiqur Rahman captured four wickets for 30 runs while Kamrul Islam grabbed three wickets for 31 runs.
Brief score: Rajshahi Division - 177 for all in 50 overs, Nayeem Islam 65, Hasanuzzaman 47, Mohammad Shahzada 18, Mushfiqur Rahman 7, Zahirul Islam 5, Anisur Rahman 5, Shamimul Haq 5, extras 12, Arafat Salauddin 1/11, Monir Hossain 3/45, Anisur Rahman 2/30.
Barisal Division - 158 for 10 in 47.3 overs, Mohammad Shaheen 39, Nadif Chowdhury 24, Towhid Hossain 22, Arafat Salauddin 17, Prosenjit Bose 15, Imran Ahmed 10, Hannan Sarkar 5, extras 12, Mushfiqur Rahman 4/30, Kamrul Islam 3/31, Mohammad Shahzada 2/31.
In the day's another match, host Dhaka Division suffered their second consecutive defeat as Sylhet Division notched hard-fought one wickets victory at Sher-e-Bangla Mirpur National Stadium.
Earlier, Dhaka Division tested their five-wicket defeat in the hands of Rajshahi Division.
With the day's win, Sylhet Division secured four points while Dhaka Division remained at eight points, both playing six outing.
Sent in to bat first, Dhaka Division were restricted at 119 runs for
in 43.1 overs with Mahmudul Alam contributing 27 runs off 43 balls with four fours while Sazzad Ahmed added a useful 21 runs off 60 balls, including a six.
Arafat Sunny (11), Mehrab Hossain (11) and Mohammad Sharif 8 were the other contributors for Dhaka Division.
Rezaul Haq took four wickets for 19 runs while Saif Mahmud claimed three for 18 runs.
In reply, Sylhet Division reached their target of 120 runs in 37.2 overs for the loss of nine wickets with middle order batsman Golam Moula contributing 22 runs off 39 balls and opener Golam Rahman adding 17 off 52 balls, featuring two fours.
Ezaz Ahmed (9), Rezaul Haq (9), Saif Mahmud (8) and Russell Ahmed (8) were the other notable scorers for Sylhet Division.
Mohammad Sharif claimed three wickets for 32 runs while Mehrab Hossain Jr and Ashraful Khan took two wickets each for 19 and 21 runs respectively.
Rezaul Haq of Sylhet Division was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant performance.
