Prices post gains

The price indices on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) posted gains Thursday, as the gaining issues outplayed the losing ones.
The trade turnover, in terms of both volume and value, also increased on the day.
The DSE General Index rose by 6.36 points or 0.35 per cent to close at 1840.01 points from 1833.64 points of Wednesday, the previous trading day.
The DSE-20 Index moved up by 10.60 points or 0.52 per cent to end at 2046.71 points from 2036.11 points of previous day.
About 4.08 million shares and debentures worth Tk 268.01 mil-lion changed hands on the day against 3.42 million shares and deben-tures valued Tk 205.31 million of the previous trading day.
A number of 190 issues were traded on the day including 90 gainers, 69 losers and 31 remain-ing un-changed on the day, as estimated on the basis of closing prices.
The total market capitalisation stood at Tk 218.73 billion from Tk 218.08 billion.
Prime Bank was the top trade turn-over leader, in terms of value, on the day. Its 25,800 shares valued at Tk 22.41 million changed hands. The price of the issue rose by 3.78 per cent to close at Tk 870.25.
Padma Textiles was a major trade turnover leader, in terms of volume, on the day. Its 512,000 shares worth Tk 19.93 million were traded. The price of the issue fell by 0.25 per cent to close at 38.50 on the day.
Pharma Aid was the top gainer on the day as its price moved up by 15.26 per cent to end at Tk 251.00. Its 185 shares valued at Tk 46,500.00 changed hands.
Tulip Dairy was the top losing issue on the day. Its price decreased by 8.08 per cent to close at Tk 22.75. Its 200 shares worth Tk 4,600.00 changed hands.
Legacy Footwear was a major gaining issue on the day with its 566,000 shares valued at Tk 3.80 million being transacted. The price of the issue rose by 15.00 per cent to close at Tk 6.90 on the day.
Southeast Bank was a major performer on the day with its 14,200 shares valued at Tk 21.27 million being traded. The price of the issue increased by 0.89 per cent to close at Tk 619.75.
