Demonstration continues protesting garment accidents

          Different organisations demonstrated in the capital Saturday in protest against accidents at garment industries leaving many workers killed and injured, reports BDNEWS.
Demanding punishment to the people responsible for accidents at KTS and Phoenix garments killing a number of workers and proper compensation to the dead and injured, Jatiya Sramik League held a protest rally and brought out a procession.
Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) at a protest rally at Muktangan strongly condemned the killing of workers in KTS and Phoenix garments in accidents for negligence of the owners.
It was addressed, among others, by CPB president Manzurul Ahsan Khan and general secretary Mujahidul Islam Selim.
Jatiya Sramik Jote, the workers' front of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, at a rally in front of the GPO demanded resignation of the chief inspector of factories for the fire at KTS Textile in Chittagong Friday leaving at least 53 killed.
It also demanded proper compensation for the victims and exemplary punishment for the people responsible.
Bikalpa Sramik Dhara, the workers' front of Bikalpa Dhara Bangladesh, held a protest meeting at its Segunbagicha office.
Meanwhile, Bikalpa Dhara president AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury and secretary general Major (retd) Abdul Mannan, BSD convenor Khalequzzaman, Swechchasebak League president AFM Bahauddin Nasim and general secretary Pankaj Debnath, Dhaka Metropolitan Ainjibi Samity president advocate Abed Raja and Ganosanghati Andolon coordinator Jonayed Saki issued separate statements condemning the garment accidents for negligence of the owners.
