Indian President ends Philippine visit
2/7/2006

MANILA, Feb 6 (AFP): Indian President Abdul Kalam ended a three-day visit to the Philippines with an address to the joint session of Congress Monday.
Kalam is the first Indian president to visit the Philippines in 15 years. In his address, he vowed to work towards further strengthening bilateral ties.
During his trip, he witnessed the signing of four agreements, including a defense cooperation pact in which both countries agreed to exchange information and military personnel.
Diplomatic relations between India and the Philippines were formally established in 1949.
