2/8/2006

RAJSHAHI, Feb 7: A former extremist leader of Baroipara Bazar under Baghmara Upazila was slaughtered here Monday night by unidentified miscreants. The police said the victim identified as Omar Ali (40), son of Morali Mondal of nearby Dogolpara village, was a leader of the outlawed Purba Banglar Communist Party (Sarbohara). Quoting witnesses the police said a gang of 10 to 15 masked youths equipped with firearms and lethal weapons swooped on Omar Ali while he was taking tea at a restaurant at 8pm. They stabbed him indiscriminately and finally slaughtered him to confirm his death. The police also quoted the witnesses as saying that the gang had left the place shouting Sarbohara slogans. — BSS
