Hasina asks govt to renounce politics of killing
2/8/2006

Charging the government with killing innocent people including opposition activists, Awami League President Sheikh Hasina Tuesday urged the ruling alliance to renounce the politics of killing, reports UNB.
"Killing people has become their habit. How many dead bodies do they want?" she questioned.
The opposition leader was talking to the family members of slain Keraniganj Jubo League leader Anwar Hossain at Sudhasadan.
Anwar, president of Jubo League unit of Ruhitpur union in Keraniganj, was stabbed allegedly by pro-government elements on February 1. He succumbed to his injuries the following day.
"Never has the nation seen such repression and killing of political opponents by a government. This BNP-Jamaat alliance is gradually becoming violent as their popularity has been on the wane," Hasina observed.
She said, "Pro-liberation forces are being killed everyday by the terrorists let loose by this anti-liberation government. They (terrorists) are killing progressive people through bomb and grenade attacks."
The AL chief said people would not tolerate such killing and oppression and they would take revenge by pulling down this autocratic regime.
"The present government has broken all records of oppression. Their cruelty's has no limit," Hasina alleged.
AL and all pro-liberation forces along with the countrymen will wage a tougher movement to oust this government, she said.
A heart-rending scene was created in the Sudhasadan when Anwar Hossain's family members arrived there. Anwar's mother Julekha Beghum, wife Rufija Begum, daughter Tahmina and son Selim talked to the opposition leader.
Jubo League Secretary Mirza Azam was also present at the time.
