Abdullah Bokhari elected new DSE president

          Abdullah Bokhari was elected the new president of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) by its board of directors Tuesday for a one-year term.
Bokhari is the chairman of Alhaj Textile Mills Ltd, a listed company, and was the vice president of DSE in 2003.
Tuesday's meeting also elected Ahmad Rashid Lali and NUM Oliullah (Nesar) senior vice president and vice president respectively.
After the election, the members of the board of directors of DSE led by the new president made a courtesy call on Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Mirza Azizul Islam in the afternoon.
Earlier the 44th annual general meeting (AGM) of the bourse was held with outgoing president Md Shahiq Khan in the chair. Four newly-elected directors-- Sharif Ataur Rahman, Abdullah Bokhari, Shahed Abdul Khaleque and Azizul Haque-were officially inducted in the top policy-making body at the AGM.
The new directors were elected for the 2006-2008 term in an election held on January 30. They replaced four other directors-- Feroz Khan, Rafiqul Islam, Saiful Islam and Mujibur Rahman.
