Asmita Barua is the only Bangladesh daughter working in the headquarter of the United Nations in the United States. I was moved at his success when I was reading an article about him in the daily Janakantha recently, which was prepared by Fazlul Bari. Later through Fazlul Bari, I contacted Asmita online and took her interview. She also sent an essay about herself for the readers of the Financial Express.
Asmita's father is Ajit Kumar Barua. Mother is Swapna Rani Barua. She is from the village Shilok of Rangunia of Chittagong. She was born on April 6, 1978. She studied in Wills Little Flower School, Dhaka and moved to Japan and got admitted in a middle school in Japan where her parents are settled. She passed her 12th class from American School of Japan from Tokyo and later got admitted into Marketing of Hawii Specific University. Later he got a job in the headquarter of the United Nations when she went for doing MBA in California.
Asmita is now serving human resource and pension department in the UN.
Besides doing the prestigious job, Asmita is also doing her masters in international affairs. Besides, she is also helping her younger sister in her studies.

FE: How did you get the UN job?
Asmita: While doing my Master's program in Los Angeles, CA, (after moving from Hawaii), I applied to work at the UN Headquarters in NY. I browsed the UN website and found out the procedures to apply.
FE: How is the working environment in the UN?
Asmita: It's a very diverse, multicultural workplace and I enjoy it very much.
FE: How can one, from Bangladesh, try for a UN job?
Asmita: One would need to visit the website (www.un.org) to learn the procedures required to apply for jobs in the UN.
FE: How can one prepare himself/herself for a UN job?
Asmita: It helps to have an educational background in international affairs. However, there are many opportunities to work for the UN (not only in the US, but also in other countries as well). I would recommend exploring the UN website for information about employment.
FE: What is your further career plan?
Asmita: I want to continue working for the UN as long as possible. I'm also interested in working in peacekeeping missions in the war-torn countries. I have explained this in my essay in detail.
