SYLHET, Feb 28 (UNB): A court here Monday convicted a man and awarded him life term imprisonment for violating a girl.
The court also fined the convict, Helal Ahmed, Tk 10,000, in default, to suffer six months more RI.
According to prosecution, convict Helal who was a tutor of Khaleda Akther's brothers raped Khaleda at Takirmura village in Dhakkin Surma Upazila.
She became pregnant and gave birth to a baby. As Helal refused to marry her she filed a case on October 20,2002.
After examining the records and witnesses, judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Md Jasimuddin handed down the verdict.
