Shaekh, Bangla Bhai creations of present govt: Jalil
3/10/2006

Awami League (AL) General Secretary Abdul Jalil strongly protested Prime Minister Khaleda Zia's statement against the opposition at Basur Haat in Noakhali Wednesday, reports BDNEWS.
In a statement Thursday the AL general secretary said the people are aware of the fact that Khaleda Zia turned the country into a safe haven for the Islamist militants who carried out grenade and bomb attacks across the country.
Abdul Jalil alleged that the prime minister patronised the Islamist militants like Shaekh Abdur Rahman and Bangla Bhai since she assumed power with the help of 'war criminal' Nizami.
He said though Bangla Bhai hung the bodies of his victims from trees in public in North Bengal, the government constantly denied his existence.
The AL general secretary said how the Prime Minister could deny the fact that the journalists had to fall victim of torture for publishing true and objective news about Shaekh Abdur Rahman and Bangla Bhai.
Abdul Jalil said that both Shaekh Abdur Rahman and Bangla Bhai were the creations of the present alliance government. The prime minister started giving incoherent speeches realising that the people had seen through the stage-managed drama of arresting Shaekh Abdur Rahman and Bangla Bhai, he said.
The AL general secretary said the BNP-Jamaat coalition government did not work for the development of the country and the people. Instead, it concentrated on developing the conditions of the ministers and lawmakers of the ruling party.
The family members of Ziaur Rahman, who had nothing but a broken suitcase and threadbare cloth, have made crores of taka.
