3/10/2006

SAVAR, Mar 9 (BDNEWS): Jahangirnagar University (JU) students and agitated mob put up a barricade on the Dhaka-Aricha highway following an accident which claimed the life of one person named Haji Jalil Munsi (60) at around 12:00 pm.
Earlier they ransacked two buses and set two other buses on fire protesting the incident. Vehicular movements came to a halt during a two-hour blockade that led to an immense traffic jam over the highway.
Later, JU Vice Chancellor and Pro-Vice Chancellor and Ashulia thana police visited the area and brought the situation under control. Vehicular movements resumed at about 3:00 pm.
Earlier, Haji Jalil Munshi of a village adjacent to JU was going to Islamnagar from Savar by a rickshaw when a Nabinagar-bound bus of Super Paribahan hit his rickshaw. He died on the spot.
