Next generation ‘must be informed’ about capital mkt
FE Report
3/10/2006

Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) in its regular investors' awareness programme organised a seminar for teachers and students of BGC Trust University in Chittagong Wednesday.
BGC Trust University located at Chandanish is a non-profit making university. Under BGC Trust, a primary school, college, hospital and also a full-pledged medical college are functioning.
Vice Chancellor of the university Nurul Mustafa in his speech said the next generation must be well informed about Bangladesh capital market. Without capital market it is impossible to generate more industry in the country, he said adding, it is a barometer of our economic development.
"Every year two hundred thousand graduate students are hunting for jobs. If we cannot provide them with jobs where they will go", he said.
Kanchan Kumar Purohit, dean of the Faculty of Business Administration, said the government must emphasise increasing the GDP ratio over market capital. Welcoming the CSE's initiative, he urged them to spread this awareness programme to every educational institution in the country.
Enthusiastic students asked different questions on the country's capital market while an elaborate presentation on the topic was made by Golam Rabban Chowdhury, GM (Corporate Development), and Sonia Hossain, deputy manager (Legal Affairs) of CSE.
Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CSE AB Siddique informed the students that the next generation was going to have a professional training institute where capital market expertise would be born. Students can choose their career in this field, he added.
BGC Trust University Treasurer Ranjit Kumar Dhar and Deputy Manager (Corporate Development) AKM Shahroze Alam also participated in the programme.
