Hosts clinch ULAB Fair Play Cup

          University of Liberal Arts (ULAB) defeated State University of Bangladesh (SUB) by 5 runs in a heart pounding final of ULAB Fair Play Cup-2006 and snatched championship.
ULAB won the toss in the morning and posted a challenging total of 188 runs on board for loss of 6 wickets in the stipulated 35 over.
Shoeb played a hurricane innings of 51 runs of only 34 balls and Sohel played a responsible knock of unbeaten 55. Riad, Chanchal and Rohan picked up 1 wicket each for SUB.
In reply, SUB fought back with courage and turned the match into an extremely exciting one. Rohan of SUB played a courageous innings of 97 runs and almost made it to the victory.
But SUB folded up managing 183 runs for loss of all wickets in 34.2 over and ULAB won by 5 runs. Masum, Shoeb and Ashique picked up 2 wickets each.
Rohan of SUB announced man of the match for his heroic 97 runs.
Minister for Information M Shamsul Islam was the chief guest in the prize giving ceremony. The tournament prize money was jointly sponsored by Prime Bank Limited and Standard Bank Limited.
Champion ULAB, received Prize money of Tk 40,000 while runner up SUB received Tk 20,000. 'Fair Play Team' BRAC received prize money of Tk 10,000.
'Man of the match in the final Rohan (SUB) received Tk 7,500, Player of the Tournament' Ashique (ULAB) received Tk 7,500, best batsman Shujon (ULAB) received Tk 5,000 best bowler Zubin (NSU) received Tk 5,000 and best fielder Isam (NSU) received Tk 5,000.
Besides, all the participating teams of the tournament received prize money of Tk 5,000 each.
