JCD activists go on rampage at Eden
DU Correspondent
3/15/2006

The female students of the Eden Girls' College were forced to leave hall following attacks and threats by Chhatra Dal female leaders Tuesday.
Activists of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) seriously injured at least ten agitating students of the college Tuesday on the campus.
The injured students were identified as Fancy, Putul, Baby, Kona, Rani, Tania, Moga, Sila, Mome and Munny. They were rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for treatment. Fancy's condition was stated to be critical.
Sources said agitating students were allegedly attacked by JCD activists Nesita, Urmee, Jani, Runa, Rubena, Shema, Mukul, Rehana and others using brickbats, stumps and hands when they did not agree to leave the dormitories.
Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. A large number of additional riot police was deployed to avoid another untoward situation.
Earlier, the authorities Monday closed the college sine die and asked students to vacant dormitories by Tuesday 9:00 am.
The students, protesting against the authorities decision, took to the street in front of the college continuously around Monday 4:00 pm to Tuesday afternoon. They observed sit-in demonstration the whole night on the street.
The students have been agitating for the last few days to realise their six-point demands. After the bloody clash their only demand was immediate resignation of the principal of the college.
The principal could not be contacted at his office to know the latest situation.
