The government constituted a seven-member committee to probe into the Jamuna Bridge cracks and recommend remedial measures. Headed by the former adviser of the caretaker government Jamilur Reza Choudhury, the probe body has been asked to submit its report to the communications ministry after spot inspections. The other members include Vice-chancellor of BUET Ali Murtuza, Bashir Ahmed of Civil Engineering faculty of BUET, Additional Chief Engineer (Technical Services Drawing) of Roads and Highways Department M Adom Ali Gazi, Additional Director General (Infrastructure) of Bangladesh Railways M Abdullah, former chief engineer of Roads and Highways Department Sheikh Rabiul Islam and the Chief Engineer of Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge Authority. —UNB
