Language heroes, researchers submit 11-pt proposal to PM, opposition leader
3/15/2006

On behalf of the Bhasha Andolon Smriti Raksha Parishad, the language movement heroes and researchers Tuesday urged the Prime Minister and the leader of the opposition to accept their 11-point proposal, reports BDNEWS.
Their demands included giving the language movement heroes the honour of national heroes with highest gallantry award for martyrs 'Bir Shresta' and announce them as 'National Hero' in different categories considering their leadership.
The language movement heroes pressed for the inclusion of their glorious contribution in the textbook syllabus.
Fixing Falgun 8 for February 21 and Pahela Baishakh for April 15 on scientific basis, the language movement activists insisted on compulsory using of 'Pramita Barsha Panji' edited by Mohammad Takiullah for keeping consistency in Bangla and English dates.
In the proposal they sought all out efforts from the government so that Bangla could join the United Nation's official language list.
