RANGPUR, Mar 14: Farmers of the northern region are expecting bumper production of ginger this season, according to sources.
Sources at the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) said about 5,530 hectares of land have been brought under ginger cultivation in 12 northern districts this year with a production target of 66,360 tonnes.
When asked, an official of the DAE told the FE that they had taken a special drive to increase ginger production in the region to reduce import of the same and to meet the growing demand.
