Daylong eye camp held

          CHUADANGA, Mar 14: A daylong eye camp was held on MA Bari High School premises here Sunday. Bangladesh National Society for Blind (BNSB) Hospital, Khulna and Jannatul Baki Jame Mosjid Committee, Rail Para, Chuadanga, jointly organised the camp. A total of 380 patients were treated in the eye camp of whom 50 were selected for cataract operation.—BSS

Man caught with arms

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Mar 14: Members of Six Rifle Battalion of Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) recovered a German made revolver and two rounds of bullet and arrested one in this connection from a mango orchard at Chamar Bazar under Shibganj Upazila in the district Sunday. The arrested was identified as Rakib of Bhabanipur village of the same Upazila. —BSS
BDR seizes smuggled goods
Benapole, Mar 14: BDR seized smuggled Indian goods worth about Tk 0.40 million from a goods train Monday. BDR sources said acting on secret information they raided a goods train coming from India and seized belts, sarees and some other goods.—UNB

Current nets captured

CHANDPUR, Mar 14: Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard have seized 0.10 million meters of current nets worth about Tk five million in the river Meghna in the district. The drive against using banned current net by the coast guard is being conducted from Matlab Upazila to Haimchar Upazila spanning over one hundred kilometer area in the river Meghna. —BSS
