CHITTAGONG, Mar 16: The Japan Bank for International Co-operation (JBIC) placed a package of vast projects, to be implemented under five heads, involving around Tk 30 billion (3,000 crore) to ensure the port-city's infrastructural upliftment.
The projects include construction of two container terminals at Chittagong port, another bridge - the fourth over the river Karnaphuli, a four-km long road and various development work in water, power and tele-communication sectors.
The project report was placed by the JBIC research team-leader Kazu Hisu Hassigawa in an occasion, arranged in the port-city today (Thursday).
Earlier an agreement was signed between the government's Economic Relations Department (ERD) and the JBIC for reviewing the "Multi-Sector Infrastructure Development in Chittagong Project" and accordingly the JBIC prepared the report.
