The country's physicians are now fully equipped with conducting "beating heart bypass surgery", the latest innovation in medical science to operate upon the heart patients in a conscious state successfully, reports BSS. The first ever operation of such a kind was done by Asit Baran Adhikary, a cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon in the country, who successfully operated upon a 69-year-old man in a private hospital in the city recently and removed blocks from his heart through "beating heart total arterial bypass surgery". The surgery was done upon Haji Nazirullah, the 69-year-old retired primary school teacher from Raipur, Luxmipur. The whole episode of surgery was narrated by Adhikary and his other team members and the process was shown in a video at a press conference at the Jatiya Press Club in the city.
