The total disbursement of foreign aid during the first half of the current financial year of July-December in 2005 stood at over $ 488.50 million (48.85 crore), compared to the $814.90 million of the corresponding period of the last fiscal year, reports BSS. Of the total aid disbursement during the period, $15.81 million was food aid and $472.70 million was project aid against $22.90 million food aid and $792.00 million project aid of the corresponding period of the fiscal year of 2004-05, Bangladesh Bank sources said. The net worth of the foreign aid during July-December, 2005 amounted to $237.51 million, as the country made $251 million as principal during the said period. During July-December of 2004-05, the worth of the net foreign aid was $573.90 million, as the payments made during the period were $241 million. The total foreign aid during the fiscal year of 2004-05 was $1259 million, but the net worth of the aid after payments of $449 million was $810 million. Of the total aid of 2004-05, $24.30 million was food aid and $1234.70 million was project aid. The value of the total foreign aid of 2003-04 was $953.50 million, which after payments of $397 million amounted to $556.50 million as net foreign aid. The total foreign aid of 2002-03 was $1585.02 million, and the net foreign aid was $1133.02 million after payments of $452 million. During the financial year of 2002-01, the disbursement of the total foreign aid amounted to $1440.79 million, which after payments of $420.99 million declined to $1019.80 million in net foreign aid.
