Unauthorised import worth $4.78b from India to Nepal taking place

          KATHMANDU, Mar 22 (Xinhua): About 39 per cent of import from India to Nepal is taking place in an unauthorised way, a study report revealed here today.
"The unauthorised import from India to Nepal constitute the transaction of around 334.4 billion Nepali rupees (some 4.78 billion US dollars)," said the study carried out by Anti-Corruption Project of the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industries, the largest federal organisation of Nepal.
The report made public here amid a function stated that the informal import covers 7.12 per cent of the total gross domestic product of Nepal.
"The county is losing ranging from 7.28 billion Nepali rupees ( 104 million US dollars) to 9.61 billion (137.28 million US dollars) in revenue due to unauthorised trade," the report added.
