President calls scouts to play their role in country's socioeconomic development
3/3/2006

President Iajuddin Ahmed called upon the rover scouts to play their due role in the country's socioeconomic forward march, reports UNB.
The President called for grooming children with democratic sense of life for making them worthy citizens of the country.
Iajuddin Ahmed made the remark while addressing the "Youth Parliament of 'Srijani' Scout Camp of Bangladesh Scouts at Mouchak in Gazipur Thursday.
Describing the youth as the future of the country, he said, "Future leaders of Bangladesh, rulers, teachers, physicians and engineers will come out of them. "Hence, the children should be imparted training to instill transparency and patriotism into their minds."
The President termed scouting as a complementary education programme saying, "The door of education should remain open to them since we want to see them as worthy citizens of the country."
He observed that the challenge for the present youths is to be groomed with proper education and skill development keeping pace with today's world for effective contributions to the country's development.
"In this age of science and technology and free flow of information, our youths should be trained up with proper guidance. Only then will they be able to survive in this competitive world," he said.
Iajuddin expressed his satisfaction at the informative and intelligent discussions held at the Youth Parliament with the participation of the scouts.
He wished the scouts a great success so that they, after being educated, could give proper leadership to the country, making Bangladesh an ideal democratic country in the world.
