Capture of Bangla Bhai
3/9/2006

Tyrant Bangla Bhai is in custody now. The success of the law enforcers and intelligence services in capturing him has been widely acclaimed and the people have now heaved a sigh of relief.
State Minister for Home Lutfuzzaman Babar said that the organisation and their network of the terrorists have been smashed and the country is being rid of this menace. But we think that much remains to be done.
Their sources of finance and their connections within and outside the country are yet to be fully identified and dealt with. Most of their Shura members are yet to be nabbed. The number of militants recruited by them is reported to run into thousands and those prepared for suicide mission may not be less than a few hundred. So the danger is still there.
We can hope that investigation of these cases will now receive a fresh impetus. In this context, we feel, the proposal of Dr Kamal Hossain for formation of an independent national commission comprising retired chief justices and experts to make a comprehensive, credible and transparent enquiry into the activities of JMB kingpin Shaekh Abdur Rahman is the right suggestion.
Such an enquiry will give the people access to information on the network they had established to terrorise the nation and to go on killing people. These terrorists must be fully exposed and brought to justice.
