Al Ahed beat Brothers 3-1
4/19/2006

DHAKA, April 18 (BSS): Al Ahed Club of Lebanon defeated Brothers Union 3-1 in their Group A match of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup at Bangabandhu National Stadium here today.
Two second half goals, after the first half ended in 1-1, helped Al Ahed record their first victory of the continental club contest.
An early goal by Mezher Hassan put Al Ahed in front and started to dispirit Brothers from the beginning. Hassan opened the scoring just four minutes after the kickoff as he headed home after a freekick by Abu Bakarr from the left.
However, Brothers could manage a comeback through Tapu, who struck five minutes before the break.
But five minutes after the restart, Al Ahed frustrated the home crowd yet again when Ali Mahmud latched on to a pass from Kenaan Abbas to take a 2-1 advantage for the Middle Eastern outfit.
Brothers, failing to make use of the home condition advantage, fell further behind on 75 minutes from where they could not recover.
Kenaan Abbas fired a header into the Brothers net following a corner from Ayub Issam and sealed a 3-1 away victory.
