ISLAMABAD, Apr 26 (PTI): Gas projects such as the Iran- Pakistan-India pipeline would help bring the much-needed energy security for the country, Islamabad has said, while warning that any US military strike against Tehran will send oil prices out of reach for many nations. Any US military strike against Iran will pose the biggest threat to otherwise stable global economy as such a move will send oil prices out of reach for many nations. Pakistan will have to take extraordinary measures to deal with such a scenario, Salaman Shah, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Finance, said at a World Bank-IMF meeting in Washington. "Our strategy is to reduce our reliance on oil. We need to develop alternative sources such as using our rivers for producing more energy. But developing hydel energy takes time and that's why gas pipelines are so important," Ashfaq Hassan Khan, economic adviser of the Finance Ministry, was quoted today by local daily 'Dawn' as saying.
