Maldives FM terms EPZs’ success ‘model’ for developing nations

          The Maldives expressed satisfaction over congenial investment climate prevailing in the Export Processing Zones (EPZs) and development activities of the zones authority, reports UNB.
Foreign Minister of the Maldives Ahmed Shaheed, leader of the visiting high-powered government delegation, expressed satisfaction over the activities of the EPZs during his discussion with the Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) Md Zakir Hossain, Monday.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to the Maldives M Mirajul Quayes accompanied the delegation, said a press release of BEPZA.
The chairman briefed the delegation about the entire gamut of EPZs including the incentives offered by BEPZA. He also highlighted on the ever-increasing growth ratio of export, investment and employment in the EPZs of Bangladesh.
Later, the foreign minister went round a 100 percent Korean garment manufacturing industry M/S Youngone Hi-tech (BD) Ltd and Korean cap factory Dada Savar Ltd in Dhaka EPZ.
The delegation expressed deep satisfaction to see the peaceful uninterrupted production oriented atmosphere of the EPZ.
Shaheed lauded BEPZA for ensuring investment friendly environment in the export processing zones and for the ever-increasing success of the EPZs. "I am impressed to see the success of EPZs and it will be a model for other developing nations," he added.
He also said BEPZA was playing a pivotal role for the socio-economic development of the country.
