Asian LCD makers hike output
10/6/2005

TAIPEI, Oct 5 (Reuters): Expansion by Asian LCD makers is raising fears of a return of supply glut, prompting investors to dump shares and analysts warning of an imminent end to the nascent recovery.
Major display makers such as Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. KS , LG.Philips LCD Co. Ltd., AU Optronics Corp. and Sony Corp. are pumping up production to take a bigger chunk of the fast-growing LCD TV market.
But analysts say a take-off in the LCD (liquid crystal display) TV demand remains to be seen, and high oil prices and rising global interest rates are expected to dampen consumer confidence and corporate technology spending.
