The Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel launched its extension project Phase-1 Thursday on 1.75 acres of land with a budget of Tk 666.4 million (66.64 crore), aiming to meet the growing need of the guests as well as to facilitate proper car parking of the hotel. State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir laid the foundation stone as the chief guest of the function while Member of Parliament Mosaddeq Ali was the special guest. Alamgir expressed his optimism that by initiating this extension programme the hotel would keep its goodwill stable, and said that last year it was able to achieve profit worth Tk 200 million. Harunur Rashid Bhuiyan, managing director of Hotels International Ltd, owning company of Pan Pacific Sonargaon, said the extension work of the hotel was undertaken to solve the car accommodation problem and meet the ever-growing demand of five-star hotels in the country. "A total of 450 cars could be parked in the three-storied basement parking area after completion of the project", he further said.
