Govt aims to ensure socio-economic development
7/24/2004

COMPANYGANJ, Noakhali, July 23 (BSS): Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Moudud Ahmed said Friday contribution of BNP to the country's development was better than that of any other political party.
"BNP believes in the politics of development," he said while inaugurating the construction work of Charelahi Pucca Bazar and Charelahi-Sandwip Pucca road here.
"The main goal of the present government is to ensure socio-economic development of the country by creating jobs for the rural women, expanding gas line and rural electrification and repairing rural roads and others infrastructures," he added.
Moudud Ahmed said the government increased the amount of old age allowance and would also raise the amount of allowances for the distressed women and the Muktijodhas.
"Step is being undertaken to distribute government lands among 2,500 landless people in the area," he said.
Earlier, the minister visited different areas affected by river erosion in Charelahi. He also saw for himself the embankment repair work in the area.
