Officials asked to promote salt production
7/25/2006

Industries Minister Matiur Rahman Nizami Monday asked the concerned officials to encourage salt production and create facilities for marketing it, reports BSS.
"Creation of adequate marketing facilities for salt is essential. Otherwise, the salt growers will feel discouraged to produce it," he said this while presiding over a review meeting of Annual Development Projects (ADP) of fiscal 2005-06 and progress of implementation of the projects, held at the conference room of the ministry.
Secretary of the ministry Mohammad Nurul Amin, heads of the different departments and corporations under the ministry and concerned project directors were present at the meeting, an official handout said. The meeting also discussed in details the latest financial position and actual implementation of the projects.
The government has allocated Tk 2191.50 million against 15 projects in 2005-06 financial year. Up to June 2006, 99.89 per cent of the sanctioned money had been placed. And 97.31 per cent of the money placed was spent in the last fiscal.
The meeting was told that the earth filling of Dhamrai BSCIC industrial estate had been completed. The plots will be distributed with the completion of the infrastructure development of the area.
The minister asked officials concerned to implement the projects of fiscal 2006-07 under the ministry timely, the handout said.
