14-party combine road-march renews call for ouster of govt

          The fourth day of the opposition 14-party road-march programme was observed across the country peacefully amid tight security Friday, report agencies.
Tens of thousands of opposition activists paraded five kilometre area on the main roads of the district headquarters Friday.
The 14-party combine held the programme as part of its six-day programme demanding resignation of the chief election commissioner (CEC) and two other commissioners, and reform to caretaker government and electoral system.
In Chittagong, the port city was rocked as several thousand people joined the road-march and vowed to oust the alliance government.
Hundreds of activists of Awami League (AL) led 14-party combine marched towards the Shaheed Minar at KC Dey Road mainly from three city points and gathered there at around 4:30pm.
The RAB with its female team kept constant vigilance on the road-march. Even some law enforcers were seen watching from the roofs of high-rise buildings of the city.
Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) Mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury at a brief rally held at the Shaheed Minar again vowed to launch non-cooperation movement to oust the alliance government.
In Narsingdi, under tight security measure, the jubilant people paraded the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway from the district headquarters carrying banners, placards and chanting anti-government slogans.
In Meherpur, Thousands of opposition activists joined the five-kilometre road-march from the district AL office to Amjhupi in the town.
In Manikganj, the opposition leaders and workers marched through a five-kilometre stretch from the district headquarters as part of the 'road-march' and later held a brief rally.
In Patuakhali, leaders and workers of the 14-party opposition combine joined the 'road march' that began at about 10am from 'Chowrasta' of the district town and ended at Patuakhali Bridge.
In Laxmipur, the leaders and workers of the opposition combine marched through a five-kilometre stretch in the district headquarters as part of the day's programme and later held a peaceful rally.
In Bagerhat, the opposition leaders and activists, led by district AL president Mozammel Huq, marched through several streets in the town.
Meanwhile, according to the schedule, in the capital, a road-march from Nayabazar Bridge to Muktangon will take place today (Saturday) while from Aminbazar to Russell Square tomorrow (Sunday).
