Women's team to attend confce in Perth

          Australian High Commissioner Lorraine Barker hosted an afternoon tea in honour of the women's delegation attending the 28th international meeting of the International Federation of University Women in Perth, Australia from 4-11 August. The delegation will be led by Zeenat Ara Bhuiyan, President, Bangladesh Federation of University Women, said a press release.
Salma Khan, former chairperson, United Nations Committee on Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), will be presenting a paper on "Women's Right to Marry and the Role of International Human Rights Mechanism" at the conference. Dr Nazmunnessa Mahtab, Chair, Department of Women Studies, Dhaka University, will present a paper on "Women's Right to Political Participation: Bangladesh Perspective" and Professor Najma Siddiqi, Department of Philosophy, Jahangirnagar University, will make a presentation on "Arsenic and the Social Implications on Women".
The High Commissioner wished the participants the best and stated that the conference will mutually benefit both countries.
