Gainers outplay losers

          The price indices on the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) went up Thursday, as the gainers outplayed the losers.
The trade turnover, in terms both volume and value, rose on the day.
The CSE All Share Price Index gained by 0.36 per cent to close at 2206.16 points from 2198.14 points of previous trading day.
The CSE-30 Index moved up by 0.83 per cent to end at 2071.94 points from 2054.90 points of the previous trading day.
A total of about 1.74 million shares and debentures worth Tk 48.02 million changed hands on the day against previous day's 1.47 million shares valued at Tk 35.72 million.
The total market capitalisation stood at Tk 122.97 billion from Tk 122.58 of the previous trading day.
The total number of contracts increased to 2,312 from 1,968 of previous trading day.
A total of 55 issues were traded on the day. Of them, 39 posted gains, seven declined and nine remained unchanged.
Beximco Textiles was the top gainer on the day. The price of the issue moved up by 12.27 per cent to close at Tk 45.75. Some 550 of its shares valued at Tk 25,200.00 were transacted on the day.
Fine Foods was the top losing issue on the day. Its price decreased by 9.86 per cent to end at Tk 6.40 from Tk 7.10 of the previous day. Its 2000 shares valued at Tk 12,850.00 changed hands.
Padma Textiles performed as the top trade turnover leader, in terms of both volume and value, on the day. Its 1.11 million shares valued at Tk 22.85 million were transacted. The price of the issue increased by 3.02 per cent to close at Tk 20.50.
Bangladesh Online was a major trade turnover leader, in terms of value, on the day. The price of the issue gained by 1.26 per cent to end at Tk 32.10. Its 170,500 shares valued at Tk 8.78 million changed hands.
Banking sector was active with ten of its issues being traded. Among them, seven posted gains and three lost grounds.
