Role of SMEs in boosting economy lauded

          The role of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in boosting the country's economy by creating employment opportunities for the people have been lauded.
First Vice President of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) Mohammad Ali said this while presiding over a meeting with the leaders of the country's SMEs on the occasion of the third SME fair, scheduled to be held between September 11 and September 17 next in the city.
Organisers and conveners of the SME fair committee 2006 were present at the meeting. For the third time the country is going to organise such a fair in the city.
In his address, Mohammad Ali said SMEs of the country are playing an important role in the economy by generating employment opportunities for people.
The government as well as donor agencies have also contributed much for the development of the sector, he added.
The fair will act as a bridge between the entrepreneurs and consumers, which will give impetus for running the enterprises efficiently in the near future, Ali mentioned.
FBCCI directors Abdur Razzaque and Akteruzzaman Monzu have been selected conveners of the SME fair organising committee 2006 and sub-committee respectively.
