Mohammad Asif and Rana Naved are going to join the Pakistan team in England before the fourth Test at The Oval but the next moment they say that they might not play but will be there to apply tender loving care to the teammates' wounds.
They may play but it is not official. It couldn't hurt but if they injure themselves it will hurt.
The ODIs, five of them, begin on August 30. It is possible both the bowlers would be kept away from the gruelling Test that may last five days although with the morale they are in the Pakistanis may just give up inside three days.
On the other front, in Sri Lanka, there is a new twist. The South Africans were supposed to fly home after the bomb explosion having cancelled their part in the tri series. Now it seems South African cricket board chief Majola will be coming over in person to tell them to please reconsider. The older players say they cannot guarantee they'll agree to play. Team management now say they cannot find tickets for the flight home. Mysterious? Well, they might try anything to keep them. Some senior players say they'll take a boat and then hire camels. They seem serious.
