French producers want to breathe new life into garlic sales

          PARIS, Sept 11 (AFP): The itinerant French garlic- seller, with his beret, drooping Gauloise cigarette, and huge string of pungent bulbs around his neck, has disappeared into folklore, but French producers are determined to breathe new life into sales.
They are facing fierce competition from the Chinese dragon, which has become the world's biggest producer, inundating Europe with cheap bulbs.
