Hearing on death reference of JMB kingpins
Confessional statement of Mamun read out before HC
8/4/2006

The confessional statement of Jhalakathi district Jama'atul Mujaheedin Bangladesh (JMB) commander, Iftekhar Hasan Al Mamun, was read out before a High Court (HC) Bench Thursday, the third day of hearing of death references of the JMB kingpins.
The Death Reference Bench comprising Justice Ali Asgar Khan and Justice Emdadul Haq heard the statement, reports BDNEWS.
In the confessional statement, Mamun narrated how he carried out the bomb attack on the two judges in Jhalakathi, and also named Shaekh Abdur Rahman and Bangla Bhai as the masterminds of the gruesome killings.
Various documents, including charge sheets and first information report (FIR), have already been produced before the Bench.
On May 29 this year, a Barisal court ordered seven JMB bosses, including Shaekh Abdur Rahman, Siddiqur Rahman alias Bangla Bhai, Mamun and four other militants, to walk the gallows in the sensational Jhalakathi judges -- Sohel Ahmed and Jagannath Pandey -- killing case.
The 'paper book' of the death reference case of seven JMB militants has been prepared on priority basis for hearing.
Deputy Attorney General Helaluddin Mollah moved the case before the court for the state. The fourth day hearing will be resumed Sunday.
