The country's export earnings during last 11 months from July, 2005 to May, 2006 reached about Tk 629.66 billion (62,965.96 crore) against around Tk 476.96 billion earned during the same period of the previous fiscal year, marking a record rise by nearly Tk 152.70 billion or 32.01 per cent. The export earnings during the period is about Tk 46.25 billion or 7.93 per cent higher than the targeted around Tk 583.41 billion, said a report of the Export Promotion Bangladesh (EPB) in the city Thursday, reports BSS. In May this year, the export earnings rose to about Tk 72.41 billion against nearly Tk 52.33 billion earned in the same month last year, showing a rise by around Tk 20.08 billion or 38.37 per cent. In March and April this year, the earnings were about Tk 61.96 billion and Tk 59.275 billion respectively, the report said. Of the total exports during the last 11 months under review, the earnings from export of primary goods amounted to around Tk 40.72 billion, while it was about Tk 542.70 billion for industrial products. During May this year, the earnings from primary goods totaled nearly Tk 5.113 billion and it was about Tk 61.79 billion for the industrial products, the data showed. In April, the earnings from primary goods totaled around Tk 3.64 billion and it was about Tk 50.643 billion for the industrial products. According to the report, the export price index during July 05-May 06 fell by 1.71 per cent and the export index in volume rose by 22.60 per cent. During July 05-April 06 period, the export price index recorded a negative growth by 2.67 per cent and the export index in volume was up by 22.84 per cent, the report added.
