Le Meng Motors launches Chinese autos in local market
FE Report
8/4/2006

Le Meng Motors (LMM) has recently launched the SUV Limousine of Chinese Great Wall Motors (GWM) in the local market.
LMM will import various types of automobiles including hover, sailor pick-up and superior pick-up from GWM for sale in Bangladesh.
Commerce Minister Hafiz Uddin Ahmed formally inaugurated the automobile's launching ceremony. LMM Chairman Khairul Anam, Managing Director Tofail Ahmed, lawmaker Shaid Uddin Chowdhury Anny and Commercial Counsellor of Chinese embassy in Bangladesh Zhu Jinfu also attended the launching function.
"The major infrastructures of Bangladesh including roads, bridges, powerplants etc have been built up with the direct financial and technical support of China. Now through import of Chinese vehicles the relationship between the two countries will be strengthened further," said the minister.
The minister also said, the Chinese government's extended cooperation to Bangladesh will surely boost up the country's consumer market by increasing the local people's purchasing capacity.
LMM will market one 2300-CC GWM SUV at a price of Tk 1.8 million (18 lakh). The vehicle uses petrol as fuel, but after an easy conversion it can also be run with compressed natural gas (CNG).
LMM has set up a target to sell 1,000 vehicles in the first year of marketing and more in the subsequent years.
