The price indices on the Chit-tagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed mixed Thursday, although the losers surpassed the gainers in number. The trade turnover, in terms both volume and value, fell on the day. The CSE All Share Price Index gained by 0.30 per cent to close at 2319.34 points from 2312.44 points of previous trading day. The CSE-30 Index moved down by 0.47 per cent to end at 2186.34 points from 2196.61 points of the previous trading day. A total of about 2.54 million shares and debentures worth Tk 61.54 million changed hands on the day against previous day's 2.58 million shares valued at Tk 66.56 million. The total market capitalisation stood at Tk 129.21 billion from Tk 128.63 of the previous trading day. The total number of contracts decreased to 2,601 from 3,026 of previous trading day. A total of 70 issues were traded on the day. Of them, 25 posted gains, 39 declined and six re-mained unchanged. Therapeutics was the top gainer on the day. The price of the issue moved up by 17.65 per cent to close at Tk 50.00. Some 200 of its shares valued at Tk 10,000.00 were transacted on the day. Maq Paper was the top losing issue on the day. Its price de-creased by 13.89 per cent to end at Tk 23.25 from Tk 27.00 of the previous day. Its 200 shares valued at Tk 4,650.00 changed hands. Padma Textiles performed as the top trade turnover leader, in terms of both volume and value, on the day. Its 1.38 million shares valued at Tk 31.14 million were trans-acted. The price of the issue decreased by 1.76 per cent to close at Tk 22.30. Square Textiles was a major trade turnover leader, in terms of value, on the day. The price of the issue gained by 3.74 per cent to end at Tk 63.80. Its 134,145 shares valued at Tk 8.26 million changed hands. Banking sector was active with 12 of its issues being traded. Of them six posted gains and six lost grounds.
